It’s a Riot!
When somebody would tell a joke we would say,”You’re a riot!” Those of us who grew up in the 1960’s remember the real riots. Supermarkets burning, cars tipped over, thugs beating people in the streets. For those of you who thought you missed out, now it’s your turn. My grandmother ran a little general store into her 80’s. She was going blind & people would hand her a one dollar bill and tell her it was a twenty. She got calls from the bank that she deposited a counterfeit $20. George Floyd was arrested for stealing from a corner store through counterfeiting,(a federal offense.) Floyd was allegedly a thief, but the officer should have put him in the back seat & headed for the precinct.
I saw a mural on the news that showed Floyd as a saint. Saints don’t steal from small businesses. I saw Floyd’s daughter saying what a great dad he was. Her unmarried mother & daughter lived in Houston, while Floyd was in Minnesota passing phoney money. If it weren’t so tragic, I would say,”This is a riot!” Death, destruction, people’s businesses destroyed, to honor a man allegedly defrauding the Federal government. The police officers should have been suspended pending a mental health evaluation. Post traumatic stress is real and growing among police officers. Let’s get all the facts before we burn down America.
